Salary: £28,000-£47,000 per annum

Hours of work: Due to the nature of the events industry and the managerial position, you should be willing to work flexible and unsociable hours, often with long days and tight deadlines. Weekend work is regular during busy events seasons. In return there will be plenty of quieter periods with lots of flexibility for a happy work-life balance.

Start Date: Immediate start

About the General Manager or Trainee General Manager role:

We’re looking for someone to spearhead our rebuild, now that events are back up and running following Covid 19, and then to drive the business forward, according to our growth plans. In short, you will run the business day to day!

As a small business, this means being involved in every part of our operations, including sales and marketing, onsite project management, recruitment and team management, and strategy. In the first few months you can expect to be particularly hands-on, both in the warehouse and onsite, and shouldn’t be afraid of getting your hands dirty and doing the heavy lifting (literally!). As we build back to our pre-Covid capacity, you’ll recruit and manage Engineers and operational staff. It’s a varied, senior role, with huge potential for growth and reward.

Who we’re looking for:

We’re looking for an energetic leader, with an entrepreneurial mindset. Experience in the events, exhibitions and conferences industry is a must, whether it’s in AV or the event supply chain, as an event/production/project manager, or as a stand builder. You should also be passionate and knowledgeable about technology. Altogether you should know your NECs from Olympias, and your HDMIs from USBs!

We prize talent and personality above experience and qualifications, so are interested in hearing from both proven managers to step straight into the General Manager role, or events professionals with some experience of team or project leadership that can be trained into the role (like a graduate management training programme, but without having to be a graduate!).

Required Experience:

  • At least 1 year’s experience in the events, exhibitions and conferences sector, with experience of working onsite
  • Passionate about the events, conferences and exhibitions industry
  • Ability to manage all aspects of sales, operations and project delivery
  • Ability to manage a small team
  • Amazing customer service skills with impeccable communication
  • Keen interest in technology and general aptitude with computers
  • Full GB/EU driving licence
  • Willing and able to drive a large van, when required
  • Comfortable with heavy lifting and manual work, when required
  • Fluent English (written and spoken)

Salary:

We are offering a fixed starting salary depending on experience, from £28,000 a year (e.g. for a Trainee General Manager role) to £47,000 a year (e.g. for a proven General Manager). A profit share scheme will be introduced after the first year.

Our culture:

We’re a small independent company, that makes a big impact! Founded in 2014 as a bootstrap start-up, we still have a start-up mentality, constantly looking to innovate. We’re a friendly team, that’s passionate about what we do. We always put output and quality above corporate-style rules and formalities. And, of course, we want working with us to be fun and rewarding for every single member of our team!

If you think this role sounds right for you we would love to hear from you. Please apply with your CV and Covering Letter telling us why you’re interested in working with us! If the job board you’re using doesn’t allow this please write to us separately to introduce yourself, we will respond to everyone that does so.
